"The section of Silver Spring in which this hotel is located is rather rough. A better area was several blocks away. The establishments around the hotel were run down. An abandoned highrise building was in sight. Windows were broken out of it, etc. There were teen/young adults loitering in the hotel parking lot on Saturday night. There had been a shooting in the area a few days before our arrival -- according to the news. There was glass or plexiglass in front of the front desk to protect the hotel employees. I will say the employees were nice. We had no trouble personally. However, the "fear" was there. If we had not paid up front, and if I had known with whom to speak, we would have gotten a refund and left. I will think twice before using this internet service again to book a hotel."

Some of the other services and amenities include the outdoor swimming pool, Nation's Capital Sightseeing pick-up and delivery tours, free adjacent parking, and 24-hour front desk concierge services. There is also a free shuttle to and from the Metrorail Station, Walter Reed, and NOAA. Each of the 142 rooms is equipped with free cable television, direct-dial telephones, and separate baths. There are non-smoking rooms available.
